Deve il some nome al Conte Cesareï Mattei nato nel 1809. Negli anni il castello stato modificato molto aggiungendo labirinti, scale,torri e stanze private.



Dopo la morte della mamma e credendo che la medicina tradizionale non
l'avesse curata attentamente dedica  i suoi studi e la sua vita alla 
divulgazione di una medicina alternativa da lui chiamata "ELETTROMEOPATIA".Divenne famoso in tutto il mondo e la sua pratica
assicuro' fama mondiale tramite anche i suoi eredi fino al 1959. Nel castello riceveva i suoi ospiti desiderosi di curarsi da  lui in maniera egregia e gratuitamente. La sua persona stata un esempio di vero altruismo.

It owes its name to the earl Cesare Mattei born in 1809.In the years the castle has been modified adding towers, stairs, labyrinths and private rooms. After the death of his mother and believing that traditional medicine hadn't cured her, he dedicated all his life and studies to an alternative medicine by him called "ELECTROHMEOPATHY"
He became famous worldwide and even after his death this practice assured fame through his heirs until 1959. In this
castle he received his guests that were eager to heal from him for free and in an excellent way. His person was an example of true altruism.

An obligatory stop on your way is the small thermal town of Porretta Terme where you should taste "tigelle e Zuccherini".

Another stop is the Nativity Scene in the church Porretta,
open all year around and very emotional.
