OUR Suspension bridge, Happy birthday 100 years OLD On the road that leads to Abetone, there is the oldest and longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world. It was built for the interest of Vincenzo Douglas Scotti, with the idea of ​​facilitating the connection between Popiglio and the METAL FACTORIES Works begun way back in 1920 and completed in 1923. In 1990 it was included in the Guinness Book of Records which listed it as "the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world". Since 2006 this title has been to the Kokonoe Yume Bridge in Japan. The bridge is approximately 227m long and just over one meter wide, at a height of approximately 40 meters from the ground, it has been restored several times over the years until today . The completion of the works dates back to January 2014, carried out to enhance the suspension bridge with a lighting system that would make it clearly visible even at night.
